Top 5 reasons for coming to Greece for IVF treatment

As the international patient coordinator at Newlife IVF in Thessaloniki Greece, I receive many emails on a daily basis from people facing problems in having IVF treatment in their own home countries. The main reasons that they seek treatment abroad are...
- High cost of all IVF treatments in their own home country
- Long waiting lists for either funded treatment cycles or for specific types of treatment (eg. Egg donation)
- Legal issues. For example in many countries donation is eponymous, surrogacy is not permitted
- Need to have personalised treatment
So here are the top 5 reasons why I believe that Newlife is the best option to seek IVF treatment:
1. High standards of healthcare.
The majority of Greek IVF units are private and highly competitive. Modern facilities and scientific and medical equipment that are state of the art are the first investments that are made so that high success rates can be achieved. Safety is paramount and strict Laws ensure that the treatments being performed are safe for the patient and any child conceived. Recently, a new law regarding embryo transfer was introduced in Greece. This law enforced the maximum number of embryos that are allowed to be transferred depending on specific circumstances. By implementing this law, it is hoped that this limits the number of multiple pregnancies and hence the problems associated with it.
2. Low cost compared to other countries.
In general healthcare, medications, blood tests and other investigations are all at a much lower cost in Greece than in other countries (UK, USA, Australia) with standards of medical treatment that are comparable. It sometimes works out more affordable to stay in Greece for the whole treatment than to have part of the monitoring in other countries as the scanning and blood tests are so expensive abroad.
3. Excellent success rates
The innovative techniques used the experienced staff and the individualized treatment protocols for each case lead to high success rates. For egg donation the success rates in Greece are high due to the large availability of young healthy egg donors. As IVF Units are private they strive to have the best success rates by having the most sophisticated equipment and keeping up-to-date with any new developments in fertility.
4. No waiting lists
There are no waiting lists for own egg IVF treatment cycles and for egg donation treatment cycles there is only the 2-3 month time required to recruit, test and synchronise the specific donor for each recipient as all of our donation cycles are fresh one to one donation treatment cycles.
5. Individualised treatments
We believe that this is very important as when treatments are individualized one can obtain the best possible outcome. We always have a personalised approach as each case is different. All staff speaks fluent English so that you will be able to communicate in your own language without having any difficulties. There is a dedicated International team experienced in handling such cases and we make sure that communication is clear and prompt. We offer free Skype consultations and will be by your side at every step of the way, supporting you before, during and after treatment.
And to top all of that off: Greece is also an excellent holiday destination, so where better to start a family?
